The iPhone 15 will have slightly curved edges and a titanium frame. That’s according to some of the latest rumors.
Apple’s rumored periscope lens would enable up to 2x optical zoom without blur or loss of quality. It’s one of the most exciting features to be expected in this year’s new iPhone.
AirPods Pro
Apple’s AirPods wireless earbuds are extremely convenient, but they’re also tiny and easy to lose. That’s why Apple built a small silver loop into the charging case, allowing you to hang them on your clothes for easy tracking with the Find My app.
At this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced a few new AirPods features, including transparency mode that dampens loud sounds like emergency sirens or screeching subway trains and allows you to easily hear your surroundings without taking off the headphones. A feature called personalized spatial audio automatically adjusts the soundstage based on your unique ear shape, giving you a more immersive listening experience.
Those features aren’t rolling out just yet, but it looks like they’ll arrive in the fall alongside iOS 17 and the second-generation AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case. According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, Apple is making the switch to USB-C in both the earbuds and their charging case so that all of its future iPhones can use the same connector for more efficient wireless charging.
If you’re signed into iCloud, your AirPods will automatically connect to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac based on whichever device was last used. To manually select a different device, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and tap Bluetooth. Find your AirPods in the list and choose a selection from the drop-down menu.
Photographic Styles
Photographic Styles are a new feature that allows you to tweak your photos before you take them. The feature consists of four different presets: Standard, Rich Contrast, Vibrant and Warm. The first option aims to create more true-to-life pictures, while the other options provide different looks for specific situations.
For example, if you’re taking a picture of a rock in the ocean at night, the Photographic Styles will help your photo look punchier while still retaining skin tones. This is a great way to make your shots stand out from the rest of the competition and gives them a more dramatic look.
However, the feature has one catch. Unlike traditional filters, you can only apply Photographic Styles before you take the picture. You cannot change them afterward, which is a huge ip15 downside to this feature. To apply a Photographic Style, simply launch the Camera app and swipe up from the bottom of the viewfinder or tap the arrow icon at the top of the screen. You’ll see a list of Photographic Styles that you can swipe through and then adjust the Tone and Warmth sliders to get the perfect look.
Camera Zoom
The iPhone 15 is reportedly bringing a new level of camera zoom capabilities. According to reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Pro Max model will use a periscope lens that offers up to 5-6x optical zoom without any loss of image quality. He says that this upgrade will only be available on the Pro Max, however, and the regular iPhone ‘Pro’ models won’t benefit from any improved optical zoom capabilities.
The new periscope lens will require some changes to the phone’s chassis and its back panel. In order to fit the prism and lenses, the Pro Max will need a slightly thicker back panel. This could lead to a price increase on that model.
The Pro Max will also need to accommodate a single pill-shaped volume button. This will replace the separate volume up and down buttons on previous iPhones. A series of renders have been shared by MacRumors that show the new design, which is raised above the metallic frame and features a distinct indent that divides it into functional halves for increasing and decreasing the volume. This will offer satisfying tactile feedback, which is more than can be said for some solid-state buttons that only offer a vibration generated by a haptic motor underneath.
